Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Education Requirement:
A) DEGREE:
Bachelor degree (or higher) in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours my include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. OR B) A combination of education and experience which includes at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
1) 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 semester hours of business law; OR 2) A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; OR 3) Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal non-conformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. This position allows the substitution of education for experience at the GS-09 and GS-11 level only. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
GS-09 LEVEL:
One year of specialized experience which includes experience interpreting regulations, guidelines, and/or standard operating procedures (SOPs) in order to implement auditing requirements. Experience performing audit and/or inspections in order to propose corrective actions. Experience composing draft memorandums and other documents for management review and approval. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07), OR Education:
Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Auditing, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration (NOTE:

Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note:

One year of specialized experience which includes experience managing financial records. Experience conducting inventory counts and analyzing audit/inspection findings to develop proposed corrective actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education:
A Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Auditing, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration. Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-12 Level:
One year of specialized experience which includes experience collecting and analyzing data to conduct audits in accordance with directives and policies. Experience conducting examinations and tests that utilize statistical and/or judgmental sampling of financial records. Experience utilizing management controls to determine financial records are maintained in accordance with applicable regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meed the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education is permitted. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position or equivalent pay band level within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (G-07). For GS-11:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position or equivalent pay band level within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). For GS-12:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position or equivalent pay band level within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
