Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Physical Scientist:
A. Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of Education and
Experience:
Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) Overseeing laboratory operations of a toxic chemical laboratory (TCL). 2) Providing technical expertise and laboratory performance management on a wide range of duties related to Air Monitoring Systems. 3) Exercising professional knowledge, sound judgment, and/or experience in various fields of science, agent monitoring and hazardous waste management and analysis. 4) Leading, informing and mentoring junior personnel in such areas as organizational goals and objectives, training and career enhancement opportunities, team building, and resolving simple, informal complaints. 5) Conducting scientific studies of environmental, air monitoring and waste samples and preparing and presenting written reports of all findings. 6) Coordinating design, review, and execution of remedial strategies and other projects to ensure conformance with Federal, State and local regulations, policies, and requirements. 7) Conducting personnel administration by assigning work to subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
